We have just returned from one night in the Bishopsdale Oast b&b. So sad it was only one night but I KNOW that we'll be back!
The location is off the beaten track, absolutely gorgeous, surrounded by a deer park (and yes, we could see it from both the bedroom and bathroom window!). We received such a warm welcome from both Iain and Jane who showed us around the house and recommended some good places to eat nearby.
The room was huge, with a good size bathroom. The bed was more than enough room for the pair of us (superking size I think!) and even though it was freezing outside, the heating was on and they had provided an extra heater and blankets. It was obviously v.clean and well presented.
The house itself is full of photos, articles and curiousities to look at, and in the morning Jane showed us photo albums from WW1 and talked us through some of the stories linked with all the photos. I thought it was so lovely of her to take the time out to have a good conversation with her guests, knowing that she had to make the rooms up again before the next guests arrived.
We only had the continental breakfast, due to a big dinner the night before. I have to say I was sorely tempted by the Full english, but the continental was substantial enough for us, with wonderful local produce.
I can highly recommend this b&b to....anyone! We will definitely be back, and I've already enticed my parents to give it a try. Thank you Iain and Jane!
Room Tip: For the best view and a superking size bed choose the Kiln room!
